Projected forecast for Saturday, October 18th is a high of 65 and low of 42. Dig out your hats and mittens for when the sun goes down!
A few reminders for camping.....you may camp on Friday night if you wish. The pack has to pay for two nights of camping due to how state parks are handling reservations, however, there will be no organized pack activities for Friday night or Saturday morning. This would be time to spend with your family (and any other families that may be there). All food would be on your own for Friday night dinner, Saturday morning breakfast, and Saturday afternoon lunch. Pack activities will start at approximately 1 o'clock on Saturday.
There will be three families per site. When we get a bit closer and sites are finalized, I will let you know which site(s) the Tiger Cubs have been assigned. Our sites will be all next to each other and because we have the youngest group, we will be in closest proximity to the bathrooms.
The Tiger Den is going to have three sites. We need commitment from three families to bring firewood so that each Tiger site can have a campfire Saturday evening and Sunday morning. The pack will provide graham crackers, chocolate, and marshmallows to make smores Saturday night.
Each scout needs to bring a pumpkin. We will have a time set aside Saturday late afternoon for pumpkin carving. Bring a pumpkin according to how much you want to scoop! I will bring carving tools and battery operated lights for pumpkins. They look so nice all lit up around the campsites!
Our den will have a game time....one suggestion was glo stick bowling (using water bottles and glo sticks). If anyone has another suggestion, please let me know.
Dinner Saturday night will be hamburgers and hotdogs. Breakfast Sunday morning is going to be pancakes and sausage (I believe, if it changes I'll let you know).
If you are a coffee drinker, could you please bring your favorite mug for your cup of joe? We try to keep our environmental impact down at family camping. Belleplain is a carry in/carry out park, you may want to throw a trash bag in when you are packing and I will be sure to have plenty on hand too.
The pack is looking for someone to pull the Pack Trailer out to Belleplain. Would any of our Tiger Families be able to pull a trailer?
Last, I'm going to throw in a tip we have learned from Family Camping and I'm asking each family to "reply all" and give a tip or question, this way we can all participate to help each other be prepared for a fun camping trip. So, here goes.....
Pack an extra pair of socks for your scout.....If they are wearing cotton socks they may be damp (sweaty) from running around....change their socks before they get in their sleeping bag so that they go to bed with dry feet instead of damp feet which equals cold feet.
